The Big List: Neurodiversity-Affirming Autism and ADHD Resources for Adults
From my experience, many people come away from their autism or ADHD assessment feeling a bit lost, armed with only a couple of website links and a lot of confusion around “well … what now?”
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. In my experience, the best thing to do after receiving that autism or ADHD diagnosis is to take some time, breathe, and process. It feels a bit like nothing’s changed, but at the same time everything’s changed, and that’s a lot to take in. And then, for many neurodivergent adults, the next step is a deep dive. But deep diving with the right neurodiversity-affirming resources is important.
The wonder of the internet is that we can now find so many neurodivergent voices - people who actually get it because they’ve lived it too.
So to help you begin your deep dive, I’ve compiled a list of some of my favourite neurodiversity-affirming resources for newly diagnosed Autistic or ADHDer adults. Some of these resources are tailored specifically for autism, while others focus more on ADHD, and many include both (because they overlap so often). Ultimately, most of them come from real, lived experience (or have been highly recommended within the neurodivergent community).
Happy browsing!
