Autism and ADHD Assessments
Assessments offer a space to deeply and fully understand your identity.
What our assessments look like
01.
Getting started
We schedule the assessment and discuss report options so that clients can select the most appropriate for them. A 50% deposit is required to secure the booking date and time.
02.
Intake Forms
Clients complete online intake forms and questionnaires, with input from someone who knew them well as a child (if available) and someone who knows them well currently.
03.
Assessment appointment
Assessment sessions are flexible to suit client needs and concentration. Typically, sessions take approximately 3 to 5 hours across two to three appointments, including background discussion and completion of autism and ADHD measures (if applicable).
04.
Feedback
Approximately 4 weeks after assessment, the report is provided and a feedback session is held to review outcomes, discuss recommendations, and address any questions.
Who we see for assessments
Emma provides Autism and ADHD assessments to clients across Australia aged 16 and over, with some flexibility for 13-15 year olds in certain cases. If you are considering an assessment for yourself or your teen, you’re welcome to reach out to discuss suitability and options.
Emma has extensive experience conducting Autism and ADHD assessments, particularly for clients who present with high masking or subtle traits. She ensures that each assessment is thorough and supportive, recognising the importance that each person’s experiences are truly heard and understood.
Location
Sessions are offered online via secure telehealth platforms, allowing clients across Australia to access support from home.
Is an assessment right for you?
Assessments can provide clarity and insight, helping individuals understand themselves and access strategies and supports that suit their needs. Autism assessments are often used to access the NDIS, or when increased stressors have contributed to neurodivergent burnout.
It is common to feel nervous about completing an assessment and to experience “imposter syndrome” around potential neurodivergence. If you are unsure whether your experiences fit in the realm of neurodivergence, the questionnaires below can provide some guidance.
Autism: CAT-Q (neurodivergent people typically score > 120), RAADS-R (neurodivergent people typically score > 130)
ADHD: ASRS (neurodivergent people typically score > 14)
If you are unsure whether pursuing an assessment is right for you, feel free to reach out to discuss your options. Emma is happy to talk through the potential pros and cons for your particular situation.
Choosing the best report for you
Emma offers two types of assessment reports. During initial contact, she will help you choose the option that best suits your needs:
1. Diagnostic summary
Provides an overview of assessment results, formal diagnoses, and recommendations
Recommended for clients seeking clarity and insight into themselves
2. Full comprehensive report
Includes background information, detailed assessment results across each criterion, formal diagnoses, and recommendations
Recommended for clients wanting a deeper understanding or documentation for NDIS
A note on medication
Emma is a clinical psychologist and provides comprehensive ADHD assessments. These assessments can support a deeper understanding of a person’s experiences and help inform strategies that work for their brain.
Psychologists are not able to prescribe medication. If medication is being considered, Emma recommends seeking assessment with a psychiatrist directly, or following up with a psychiatrist after completing an assessment.
